AI Policy & Governance
Our Approach to Responsible AI
We recognize that the effective integration of artificial intelligence requires thoughtful policies and governance structures. We are actively developing a comprehensive framework that promotes responsible AI use while supporting innovation across the university.
Although our formal policy framework is still in development, the following resources are currently available to the Touro community:
AI and Academic Integrity Guidance: Touro’s existing academic integrity policies now include guidelines related to responsible student and faculty use of AI tools.
AI Security Policy: This policy outlines standards for safeguarding institutional data when using AI technologies. It is available through the TouroOne portal.
Get Involved in Policy Development: We are building a collaborative policy environment and welcome contributions from across the university. You can:
- Participate in upcoming forums on AI governance
- Provide feedback on draft policies as they are developed
- Suggest areas where clearer guidance is needed
- Share use cases that highlight potential risks or opportunities
What We Are Building
Our team is working to create a suite of resources that will support the responsible and effective use of AI across Touro:
- Plain-language policy summaries to support adoption and understanding
- Implementation guides for faculty, staff, and students
- Decision-making tools to help determine when and how to apply AI
- Case studies that illustrate real-world applications and lessons learned
